CREATURE CABARET 2020

Creature Cabaret's first production is an underground and under the sea animal themed cabaret set in Victorian times to reflect the underground themes of the time. Our concept developed from the poem Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge which commented on the issues of opium in this era, we were inspired by the language, imagery and atmosphere it created by romanticising the effect of the drug and we used this to push our representation of unexpected beauty.

Our production is conveying an unusual and unexpected view of what is beautiful and by doing this we are creating a space for people who don't necessarily feel comfortable with conventional beauty and creating a space for everyone to fit in. It is a celebration of the unusual.
